Wednesday, March 10, 2004 Crack of dawn, 7:00 AM, room service arrived and the wake up call came. 8:00 AM we gathered in the "Dazzles Disco Deck" (how cheesy can you get?) to separate into our excursion groups. We were part of the biggest group, the Reef & Stingray City Snorkeling Tour. Obviously we were all excited about this one too. I've never been snorkeling before, and once you looked out the window docked at Grand Cayman well, that's the bluest water I've seen. This tour was really really cool and worth going on. The visit to Stingray City was amazing. These huge creatures would scurry past you and though my initial reaction was fear, we all quickly warmed up to them and were able to play with em, pet em, and were even rooked into kissing em, thanks to the tour guides. For this part of the tour we were on a sand bar about four feet deep, so we could walk around while snorkeling and having fun, for the second stop, the water was deeper. Putting my head under the water for the Reef portion of the snorkeling tour was almost like turning "Finding Nemo" on my television, except for the lack of sea creatures. There were beautiful plants and reefs for us to swim down to, but only scattered fish. The only explanation I could think of for this was too big of a crowd. In fact this was a problem at both destinations on this tour. When we pulled up to the sand bar, we were in the middle of nowhere, but the scene somewhat resembled what I've seen of the public swimming pools in New York City, a damn huge crowd. Well, I guess not everything is going to be perfect, but this was my first time snorkeling and I still had a ball. We spent a few hours afterwards bumming around the town of Grand Cayman, then back to the boat again, to get ready for night four! (holy crap we're halfway done!!!) For the Wednesday night show, the boys went up to the Observation Lounge at the top of the boat and split the crowd in two, for an early and late show. We went to the late show. They decided to make it a stripped-down acoustic set, completely loose, with a question and answer session taboot. It was a great opportunity for moe to just "hang" with the fans and have some fun. A bunch of songs from their latest album Wormwood, along with some requests of rarities made up the set. Was a great time. After the set, the band hung out, took pictures, and chatted with everyone. It was a nice relaxed evening for all. |
