A Week of the Life - a moe.cruise journal

Saturday, March 6th

Left the rough weather of New York City behind and flew to Miami. We got a hotel in Miami Beach (a.k.a. South Beach) for the sheer reason of spending a night in one of the cheesiest places on the planet and witnessing a part of our culture where everyone is obsessed with their bodies and wardrobe. We were so pumped for the cruise the next day though, that little else was on our minds.

Sunday, March 7th

We were instructed to get in line for the cruise between 1 and 4 PM, but we showed up early, and boy were we happy about that! When we got there at 12:30, the line had barely begun and the crew promptly got us on board the Norwegian Sun. Chuck and Vinnie from moe were right in front of us in line, and I was really surprised that they went through the regular line like all of us, not the VIP entrance.

We were completely settled in by about 2:00 and started getting our bearings on the boat. We had met a great guy and girl from Tampa on the line in, and ended up running into them over and over, and hanging out with them for the whole cruise. Nothing like making new friends!

The rest of Sunday was spent enjoying drinks and relaxing on the deck, getting ready for the first night.

Anticipation was high for the first night's show. This show was in the stardust lounge, a beautiful theater that seats about 1,000 people. We knew, however, that we were getting six moe concerts this week so I was expecting them to hold back a little. I underestimated.

Both sets were great. Moe is the one band where I ALWAYS forget what song they are in the middle of, or coming out of when they start to jam. The interplay among the band members was top-notch, whether during the tight arrangements of the songs themselves, or while we witnessed the maximum chemistry of their jamming.

The whole show I was still in shock that we were all in the middle of the ocean, however… it was starting to hit me what a blast the entire week was going to be.
