Part II: The Ride of a Lifetime
| Well, that was it. I became obsessed with concerts. It started of course with the typical high school hard rock shows. I loved the fireworks on stage, the lights, the excitement. Like every other kid, I dreamed of being a rock star. I probably went to about one concert per month through my high school years, which seemed like alot at the time. Little did I know what would be in store once I started to appreciate the incredible music which permeates my life to this day! | |

My older sister Jeanne probably went to a hundred Grateful Dead concerts, and in my younger years I just didn't get it. But one day when I was fifteen I bought the Grateful Dead CD "Europe '72" for reasons I don't know, and the next thing I knew I was listening to them every day. Jeanne also gave me my first Phish bootleg tape. In the summer of 1992, I went to my first Dead show and my first Phish show. By the end of 1993 I was spending all of my extra money on Grateful Dead and Phish concert tickets. |

The music of these bands is something people either "get" or they don't, and I got it. I got it so bad that to this day I have not burned out. Peoples' jaws drop when I tell them how many Phish concerts I've been to, but it never seems like a big deal to me. It's just a way of life, and no matter how many I see, it never gets old. In more recent years, I have become equally obsessed with the String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, and countless other bands that enjoy getting on stage and taking chances night after night. Now I am in a band that has the same philosophy as those I have followed for so many years. The whole experience is in a word, "Great", and the ride has barely begun. |
